About Us

Who We Are!!!

 

We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the Pakistani community in Australia. Our mission is to provide assistance, advocacy, and humanitarian aid to Pakistanis living in Australia and to promote cultural understanding and social justice. Our organisation is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who are committed to serving the needs of the community. We work closely with community members, local businesses, and other organisations to ensure that our programs and services are responsive to the needs of our constituents.


We offer a range of services, including counselling, job placement assistance, legal aid, language classes, and cultural events. We also work to promote social justice and equality by advocating for policies and programs that address issues such as discrimination, racism, and inequality.


Additionally, we are committed to providing humanitarian aid to people in Pakistan who are in need. We believe that our work is an essential part of building a strong and vibrant community, and we are proud to be a part of the Australian-Pakistani community.

What we do

We are Providing support and assistance to Pakistanis living in Australia: One of the primary goals of a Pakistan welfare organisation in Australia would be to provide support and assistance to Pakistanis who are living in Australia. This may include services such as counseling, job placement assistance, legal aid, and language classes.


Fostering cultural awareness and understanding: Another important goal of a Pakistan welfare organisation in Australia may be to foster cultural awareness and understanding between the Pakistani and Australian communities. This could involve organising cultural events, offering educational programs, and creating opportunities for dialogue and interaction.


Promoting social justice and equality: A Pakistan welfare organisation in Australia may also have the goal of promoting social justice and equality for Pakistanis living in Australia. This could involve advocating for policies and programs that address issues such as discrimination, racism, and inequality.

PWOA in a Nutshell

Different Pakistani organisations have been a handy tool over the years to promote a sense of patriotism and harmony among the overseas Pakistani community. Even in Australia in general and Melbourne itself, there have been a few which have done their utmost to strengthen the connection between the expatriates and Pakistan. 


However, it was felt that there was a lot to be done for the Pakistani immigrants & students in the country as they form the biggest contingent of our community in Australia. Students/Immigrants generally operate under a lot of stress ranging from homesickness, language barriers, cultural shock, study/workload and work-life balance to name a few. All these factors consume them so much that sometimes they feel a bit distanced. PWOA was formed to create a society where marginalized and vulnerable communities are socially, economically & politically empowered through their active participation. To arrange community or cultural events which encourage people within the community. Keeping these issues in mind, there was a need to fill up the vacuum of a platform for Pakistanis and hence PWOA has been formed to fill this gap.


Overall, the mission of the Pakistan Welfare Organisation in Australia is to empower and enrich the Pakistani community by providing comprehensive support and advocacy services that help them overcome the challenges they face in their daily lives while promoting their integration and participation in Australian society.
